Everyday, we spend more and more time reading, watching and listening to media, but the proportion of time spent searching for the right media is frustratingly high. Employees spend as much as 19.8% of their time searching for content (Mckinsey); whilst at home, just on pre-curated Video-on-Demand content alone, we spend on average 24 minutes a day searching (Statista.)
Our Mission at Spotlight is to challenge the time wasted on unproductive search, with with ever-improving search products. We want to take the next evolutionary step in search, becoming the most used global tool for A/V content. The good news is that our intelligent search tool is quite simply better than any traditional text search alternatives in A/V-rich environments.
Our next goals are slightly more challenging, 1. To make everyone aware of our product and that they needn't keep wasting time on search; 2. To make our product available to media owners/ distributors in a format they can easily deploy, and 3. To keep innovating the product(s) based on industry change and customer feedback.
We aren't trying to adjust to the 'new normal' - not that we generally use buzzwords like that - we were forged in the fires of the Covid pandemic, this IS our normal.
During the pandemic, when digital media became the primary source of business, entertainment and socialisation, the weaknesses of traditional search became starkly apparent. Our innovation is a direct result of us trying to make our own lives just a little bit better.
Now, we're a small group of technologists that want to offer time-saving capability to the World. We think the best way to achieve this is to digitally package our technology in a simple, self-installing plug-in. Sure, we'll work with larger companies that have security or scale issues with the plug-in, but we're not planning to become a global software colossus. We aim to grow only to maintain our focus on ever-improving products and exceptional customer support. We want our business to change the World not conquer it.
Our approach will help us stay nimble and cutting-edge, global but not a faceless multi-national corporation. To that end we're constantly looking for international partners to service different markets. We are also looking for investors. Our product is unique, highly effective and potentially ubiquitous - it has uses across nearly all industry sectors, certainly all those sectors that utilise audio/ video content. Our language capability is constantly growing too, meaning we'll soon have a product for 75% of the World's population. As stated, we aim to remain operationally small and highly cost efficient - investment funds are specifically for sales and marketing efforts for launching in new markets.
